Overtesting leads to low performance

In high school, students are forced to take various standardized tests that supposedly gauge intelligence and skill.

Throughout the year, students take so many practice tests from release TAKS, to benchmarks, to field tests, that the testing becomes self-defeating.

Journalism student earns top honors

Senior John Fuller earned top honors by placing 1st in News Writing at the State UIL competition held at the University of Texas on Monday, May 21. Fuller also placed 2nd in Editorial Writing. His placings in those two events earned BHS the title of 2nd place journalism team.

There have been many changes in the general rules around this school, with the dress code being one of the most significant. The constant nagging of teachers for students to tuck in their shirts in the hallways and the dozens of students sent to SAC for an unshaven face. Seeing students being told to remove their headphones or lose them. While these rules had good intentions, they led to all the wrong results.
