Changing year leads to changing rules

As I walked into school, starting the tenth grade with nerves on edge, I noticed how many people were in the cafeteria. Then I saw the differences; a new principal, televisions in the cafeteria, and even more would be revealed later.

Principles, standard raised with new principal

“A hero is a person who helps someone else. He is always there for me. He never lets me down.” In the eyes of a child, few things mean more to them than their hero. Principal Lamond Dean’s son’s hero wasn’t Superman or Spiderman, but rather his own father.

School introduces plan allowing students to bring their own devices

Last year the school board instituted a zero tolerance technology program on campus. Typing school reports during lunch and texting were both seen as unacceptable and disruptive to the learning environment. Most students were left scratching their heads as to how these two acts could be grouped under the same category of activity. One was quite obviously disruptive and disrespectful, but the other was clearly a positive attempt to get ahead on their studies.

Band to host annual spaghetti dinner

The BHS band is selling tickets for their annual Spaghetti Dinner on Oct. 5th from 4:30 to 7pm. The JV Silver team defeated the Plugerville Hendrickson Hawks 24-0 Thursday night at Merrill Green Stadium. Brazos Valley College Night scheduled for Oct. 1

The Brazos Valley College Night event is schedule for Monday, Oct. 1 from 6-8pm at the Brazos Center. Representatives from 4-year and 2-year colleges and technical schools will be present to answer questions from parents and students. Armed forces members will also be in attendance.

Viking tennis team goes 3-1 at tournament

The Viking tennis team went 3-1 in the Consol Tournament this weekend. Bryan defeated College Station HS, Copperas Cove and Rudder. The only loss came at the hands of Woodlands JV. The team returns to the courts Tuesday against Conroe HS. The Crosstown Showdown will take place at Consol on Friday afternoon.

PSAT free for all 10th grade student

On Wed. Octboer 17, the PSAT will be given at Bryan High, all 10th grade students will automatically be registered for the PSAT for FREE. 9th and 11th grade student may register for the test in the Silver Cafeteria during their lunch period from Sept. 10-21.
