Gun users take fire, punished for crimes they didn’t commit

As more mass shootings take place in America, the topic of gun control becomes more prevalent with the public. In response, President Barack Obama has recently made a controversial proposal to congress regarding the nation’s gun control laws aimed at the nations weapons holders. Now, more than ever, it is critical that citizens are familiar with the second amendment. As a free nation, we must realize that we cannot blame the masses for the acts of the few.

New gun control laws bring hope

Over the past few years, statistics have shown that gun crimes seem to be dramatically increasing every year since 1999. Since the Columbine High School shooting of 1999, the Virginia Tech shooting of 2007, the Batman shooting of 2012 in Aurora, Colorado, and the most recent Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Connecticut in 2012, including numerous others in between, have left American hearts in pieces.

Turtles are not fun to eat

Every team has their members and their colors but the most important part of any team is their mascot. The mascot is in the background cheering from the sidelines to raise their team’s spirit. While Bryan High has Thor the Viking, the Norseman staff has their own mascot – one that has been around since I joined the Norseman Staff my sophomore year.

The Fall raises cinematography

Watching The Fall is like being a child again, reading your favorite bedtime story, complete with vivid imagery and uniquely imagined characters. However, unlike most fairy tales, this one is viewed through the imagination of a disturbed child and told by a drug addict. The movie darkens more as the movie progresses. Despite this, the movie captures a series of highly imaginative and beautiful scenes in both the real world and the storyworld, from the tragic opening scene, to the final, dramatic duel in the little girl’s imagination.

Appreciate each moment, present is a gift

In the midst of the freezing winter months, people dream of summer vacations, bikinis, pool parties, and trips to the beach. Most want to trade in those fuzzy boots for a pair of sandals, and feel sand between their toes rather than snow under their feet. Yet, in the midst of summer, we long for the frigid winter, bonfires, and the chance to bring the newest pair of Ugg boots out of our closets.

Livin’ a YoungLife

This October, my friends and I sat on the bleachers watching the Viking football game like most Friday nights in the fall. Boredom began to strike while the scoreboard remained unchanged and time passed slowly. Then, we were suddenly approached by a girl. She immediately sparked conversation after conversation with us, adding some much needed pep to our average night. (I later learned was a YoungLife leader). I appreciated the fact that she didn’t just come out and say that she was a leader or try to smooth talk us into going, like some entrepreneur opening a new business would have. She took the time to get to know us before talking about what YoungLife was and by the end of the night, we exchanged numbers and that’s where the journey began.
