Lady viking volleyball finishes district play with a win

The Lady Viking Volleyball teams finished District against the Huntsville Hornets The Freshmen team was defeated 22-25, 22-25. The Junior Varsity defeated Huntsville 25-16, 25-23. As the leaves begin to turn and the air gets a little more brisk, we begin to feel the spooky aura all around as October creeps in. With October comes fall favorites like the Pumpkin Spice Lattes from Starbucks, the comfort of wearing sweaters 24/7, and of course, the best of all, Halloween. Now if you’re like me and consider yourself a “Halloweenie”, then you totally understand the obsession and love for the amazing holiday. How could someone not love the monsters, candy, insane yard decorations, and most of all, the movies?

Underclassmen pictures scheduled for Oct. 20

Picture retakes for 9th, 10th, and 11th grades student will take place on Tuesday, October 20 in the large auditorium from 8-12. This will be the final opportunity for 9-11th grade student to take a picture for the yearbook. Order forms can be picked up in room 6160 or the silver front office.

Volleyball player set for success: Leadership on team comes from dedication, perseverance

The ball sails over the net back and forth as two teams fights for the next point. Players work as a single unit to keep the volley going as one player makes a dig, another player sets the ball, and a final player slams it down onto the opposing team’s side of the floor. Junior Maddie Luera has been playing volleyball for eight years and has always enjoyed the competitive nature of the sport.

Down, but not out: Senior offensive lineman redefines role on team after injury

Players stare across the line at each other waiting for the ball to be hiked. Beads of sweat run down their faces as the tension builds with each word the quarterback yells. The ball sails from the center’s hands into the quarterback’s and the play begins. Each offensive lineman blocks the man across from him. Pushing, protecting the quarterback and the running back coming around the end. But plays, like life, don’t always go as expected. A defensive players peels off his man and slams into the back of one of the offensive lineman’s knees. Pain. Pain, not yardage is gained on this play.
