The boys’ wrestling team finished in second place with 154 point at the District 25 meet Saturday, Feb 4. The girls team finished fifth with 38 points. Nine Vikings qualified to move forward and compete at regional.
David Jones remained undefeated, winning the 220-pound weight class. Trey Pierce (126 pounds) and Nathan Jimenez (138) also took first place to qualify for next week’s regional meet in San Antonio. Rafael Aguilar (120), Cameron McCann (132), Victor Mireles (160) and Rafael Turrubartes (195) qualified for regional with second-place finishes.
Keaun Davidson (152) and Francisco Vasquez (170) took fourth place for Bryan.
For the girls, Laura Hawk (110) qualified for regional with a first-place medal, improving her season record to 31-1. Rhonda Johnson finished third at 119 pounds and won a wrestleback challenge to qualify for regional.
