High school is the the place where teenagers discover who they are or who they want to be as a person. However, many teenagers are afraid of being true to themselves for fear of being made fun of or looked upon as being odd. Instead they “follow the leader”.
These teens try their best to follow the crowd, missing out on doing things they want to do. One of the main areas teenagers are timid about discovering on their own is their personal style.
Fashion is meant to be a way of expressing yourself; and no one should take that for granted. Expressing yourself is a beautiful thing and nobody should feel the need to conform to the trends they see in magazines just because it’s the “cool” thing to do. Besides, in reality, the “cool” kids are the ones who are their own person, and don’t dress like every other kid. They create their own fashion trends and other people want to use them as an inspiration. What sounds better: the unique teen, or just another follower?
Of course it’s never too late to create your own style and it’s also fairly easy – just pick out the clothing items you like!
Unfortunately, it can sometimes seem challenging to find things meant for you in a store, but it doesn’t have to be that way.
Most people don’t know this, but while shopping, your mind is always working and subconsciously you are constantly picking out things you like without even realizing it. There is a reason things catch your eye, whether it be color, print, or another characteristics – let that be your guide. Have the nerve to see what it is your mind is telling you to check out.
After trusting your instincts and picking out multiple things you might be interested in, try it on and see if it’s right for you. Remember, don’t try to please others while choosing the right outfits, please yourself instead. Trust your gut while shopping, don’t depend on anyone else’s input.
Don’t take the fun out of fashion by trying to be anyone but you. Individuality is beautiful – don’t hide it.
