Journalism student earns top honors

State Champion — Senior John Fuller was earned the 1st place title at State for News Writing.

Senior John Fuller earned top honors by placing 1st in News Writing at the State UIL competition held at the University of Texas on Monday, May 21. Fuller also placed 2nd in Editorial Writing. His placings in those two events earned BHS the title of 2nd place journalism team.

This marks Fuller’s second trip to the State competition in the News and Editorial Writing. Last year he placed 3rd in News and 1st in Editorial, earning BHS the title of 1st place journalism team.

Fuller has enjoyed success while competing in journalism over the past four years, earning more than 61 awards, 23 of which were 1st place.
