Swimmers compete at Bob Stallings Invitatinal

The swim team competed at the Bob Stallings Invitational Meet at A&M.

The girls team placed eighth overall with four first place finishes. Julia Cook led the way with two first place finishes and earned the high point award for the meet. She broke two meet records with times of 48.92 in the 100 freestyle and 52.62 in the 100 backstroke. Freshmen Abigail Surley won the 100 breastroke and placed 11th in the 200 Individual Medley. The team also got great performances from freshmen Elizabeth Tag who placed 5th in the 100 breastroke and K’Lee Rudd who placed 9th in the 100 backstroke. The relay team of Cook, Surley, Rudd and Cat Darnell took first in the 200 free relay and 2nd in the 200 medley relay.

The boys team was led by Joel Coppernoll who placed 9th in the 500 freestyle and 10th in the 200 freestyle.

Coppernoll, Tag, Rudd, Surley and Cook all qualified to swim in the TISCA Gulf Championships later this month.
