Lady Vikes take fourth place at Leander Volleypalooza

During the first week of classes, the Lady Viking Volleyball team competed in the Leander Volleypalooza Volleyball tournament, in which they finished with a fourth-place title.

Bryan finished the first day of play, August 25, with a record of 2-1. In game one Bryan defeated Gregory-Portland 25-15, 25-13. Junior Reagan Boenker and sophomore Jessica Pfeffer led the Vikings with 6 kills each. Junior Abby Cullen added 3 kills, 3 aces, and 15 assists, and junior Brittany Little had 3 aces. In the second match Bryan defeated Spring 25-19, 25-15. Boenker had 6 kills and a block, and junior Brittney Jones had 4 kills and 2 solo blocks. Cullen had 12 assists and 3 aces. Defensively, Little had 9 digs, Sophomore Emily Carroll had 7 and Pfeffer added 5. In the third match Bryan fell to 2010 2-A state finalist Poth 17-25, 25-23, 16-25. The offense was led by Boenker with 17 kills, while Pfeffer added 6 and Jones followed with 5. Little led the Vikings defensively with 20 digs. Reagan Boenker had 11 digs while senior Alyssa Micheletti had 3 aces and Cullen had 29 assists.

Bryan finished day 2 of Leander’s Volleypalooza 0-3 falling to Vista Ridge, San Antonio MacArthur, and Aledo. Bryan fell to Vista Ridge 10-25, 17-25. The Vikings were led by Boenker with 8 kills and 5 digs and Pfeffer with 4 kills. Cullen had 10 assists. MacArthur defeated Bryan 18-25, 25-20, 22-25. Boenker had 16 kills, Pfeffer had 7 kills, and Cullen had 23 assists. Little had 29 digs, and Gia Hardeman had 4 blocks. Bryan fell to Aledo 11-25, 12-25.

During Day 3 of the tournament, Bryan finished 4th in the gold bracket. In the first match Bryan beat St. Dominic Savio 25-17, 25-23. Boenker had 10 kills and 8 digs, and Pfeffer had 6 kils. Sophomore Erica Russell had 11 digs while Cullen had 13 digs and 13 assists. Bryan fell to Cedar Park in the second match 18-25, 15-25. In the last match Bryan fell to San Antonio MacArthur 15-25, 16-25.
