Have you ever noticed how many stickers or banners are on Silver Campus? There are other ways, the school could be spending money, like giving it to academics departments instead of cutting their budgets.
All departments suffered cutbacks last year and this year looks to be no different. Small things like scantrons, highlighters and pencils have to be “rationed out” so that they will not be wasted.
The school could have spent the money saved on these stickers on new computers so that classes would not have to share.
Teachers would not have to worry about wasting paper and could let students write on tests instead of having them simply bubble in the answers or write them on another sheet of paper.
The school could buy new textbooks with the money, which are needed, because many are out of date or very beaten up.
Although these stickers are meant to promote school spirit, there are other ways that the school could show it. For example, they could have the cheerleaders or different groups and organizations make banners and posters to hang around school. This would not only save money, but it would work just as well as the stickers and posters.
I just don’t see the reason for having these stickers around school when we are having budget issues and should avoid unnecessary costs.
