Wrestling takes 4th at Dallas meet

The boys varsity and JV wrestling teams competed Dec. 10 at The Wylie East Invitational in Dallas.

This tournament contained most of the dominant teams of 5A wrestling in the Dallas area including Rockwall Heath the reigning region 3 and state Champions.

The boys varsity finished in 4th place out of 11 teams with 9 wrestlers. Of the 9, 7 placed in the top 4 of their weight class. JaMarcus Thomas (170) finished in 2nd place. Andres Gonzalez (113), Caden DeJesus (126), David Frazier (145) and Caden Scott(152) all finished in 3rd place, Larry Duron (120) and Dustine Korzynski(138) both finished 4th.

The JV they showed that they were ready for the challenge and also brought home a lot of medals. The JV entered 10 and 7 placed in the top 4. Braedon Giles, Sloan Vavra, and Donavan Hernandez all placed 2nd, Steven Salinas, Monyell Nutall, Colten Murph and Kevin Duron all took 3rd. Each of these 7 wrestlers only lost one match during the tournament.

The next event for the team will be Dec. 17 at BHS. The Viking will host the 20th Annual Doc Hess Classic. There will be 47 teams with 1400 wrestlers head to BHS.
