The Little Mermaid delivers Disney magic despite difficulties

Putting together a musical in just a few weeks is already a huge challenge, but that task is made more difficult when weather complications and the spread of an illness arise. This was unfortunately the case with this year’s production of The Little Mermaid, with an ice storm hitting Bryan right before opening night and with at least 10 cast members out with COVID at some point during the rehearsal.

Seniors earn top vocal honors: All-state choir member, alternate prove hard-work, dedication key to success

Earning a spot in the all-state choir is a prestigious accomplishment that only the top seven vocalists in each voice part are awarded each year. Senior Claire Beesaw earned third chair all-state mixed choir soprano and senior Abby Surley was selected as ninth chair (1st runner-up) for all-state treble choir.

Into the theatre: Fine arts department unites to create musical production

The curtain rises as all the hours of work, tears, and nerves culminate in this single moment. The Narrator begins the story: “Once upon a time in a far off kingdom”, and the stage comes to life transporting the audience into the fairy tale world. Fine Arts puts on a wicked rendition of classic musical

The Wizard of Oz, a classic American cultural entity, is cherished by children and adults across the country–and messing with something so treasured is always a risk.

Still, the risk paid off for the Fine Arts department over the weekend as they performed their interpretation of The Wizard of Oz to an audience that was left both delighted and fulfilled.

Fine arts department to provide twist on old classic

On Feb. 3, 4 and 6, the fine arts department will showcase their production of The Wizard of Oz, but with a new twist. Countless hours of rehearsal and preparation have gone into this year’s production, and the audience can look forward to a unique rendition of the show they know and love.

Musical tickets on sale now

Tickets for the Fine Arts department’s spring musical, The Wizard of Oz, are on sale now. The show will be from February 3 – 6 at the Bryan Civic Auditorium.

Pre-sale tickets cost $7 for students and $10 for adults. All tickets are $12 at the door. Tickets can be purchased from any cast or crew member, or in the Choir room.

Student excels at Choir All-State competition

Senior Landon McGee has received the highest honor possible for a Texas music student. He placed 5th in the Tenor 2 section and will join with other musicians across the state for three days of rehearsal (February 8-10) culminating in an All-State Choir performance February 11 in San Antonio, TX.

Choir serves, serenades audience for night of splendor

The mood for Feast Of Carols was set as soon as you entered the door. It was as if someone sent you back a couple hundred years and you landed in Medieval Times. Knights stood all around, along with court jesters, lords and ladies lining the halls and ushering you forward.
