There are times in our lives when we need to be shown a little extra love while being uplifted in the process, and who better to do that than a grandparent?
Being able to have a relationship with your grandparents is an incredible blessing. To me, grandparents are nothing less than earthly angels. I have a unique relationship with each of mine, and every single one of them holds a special place in my heart.
My grandparents have always been there for me, no matter what I needed.
While my parents always come through for me, my grandparents continually go that extra mile just to see a smile on my face.
I spend most of my time with my paternal grandmother. We’ve always been close. Since my first days on earth, my grandmother has always been near me. As a baby and young child, I’ve always wanted to be in her presence, and that hasn’t changed as I’ve gotten older.
My grandmother has always been my comfort person. I run to her with all of my problems, big or small, and she’s always there to comfort me.
Having a person you can talk to about anything is such a blessing, and that person for me happens to be my grandmother. Whenever I rant, she always hears me and offers me comfort.
She always says, “There’s nothing you’ll go through that I haven’t already experienced.”
No matter how many times she says it, that statement always brings me comfort because it provides that sense of being understood. She always listens without judgment and offers the best advice that she can give.
She’s shared many of her stories with me; they have honestly given me guidance and sometimes a bit of light when I feel lost in the dark.
As a teen, sometimes minor inconveniences can feel like the biggest obstacle that you just can’t get around. When that happens to me, I think of my grandmother, who has faced many difficult challenges throughout her life, but has gotten through each of them.
Being able to have a relationship with your grandparents is a gift that should never go unappreciated. Being able to hear their voices, feel their love, see their smiling faces, and most importantly, being able to hear their stories and the advice that they pour into us is essential to maturing.
I will always cherish those who believe in me.
When I was younger, hearing my grandparents’ stories over and over again was annoying, but as I’ve aged, I have learned to evaluate and understand why they are telling them.
If you just sit and listen, you might pick up on something that you needed to hear.
There’s nothing like being able to take a trip to Grandma and Grandpa’s house for a visit. I hope the biggest takeaway from this article is to listen to the voices of those who come before you; they have so many stories to tell.
Just because they’re older, many teens feel as though their grandparents are out of touch and wouldn’t understand the problems and feelings that they are facing.
We have to remember, though, they were once our age too. Your grandmother once had her first date, and regardless of whether it was in 1955 or in 2026, every girl gets those same butterflies, then and now. Maybe she could tell you how to get over the nerves.
The wisdom that comes with age is truly a beautiful thing, so take the time to talk with your grandparents, just hear what they have to say. If I were able to make my grandparents immortal, I would.
They really do mean the world to me. Unfortunately, they don’t get to be around forever, so if you’re able to pick up the phone and call them, do it. If you’re able to take a quick trip to your grandparents’ house, do it.
Your grandparents won’t be around forever, so cherish the moments you still have with them. Whether that’s picking up the phone for a quick chat or making a visit. I hope the biggest takeaway from this article is to make everlasting memories with your grandparents. Sometimes one conversation or piece of advice will stick with you forever.
