The world according to Abel: Growing up

If I had a time machine I’d go back to my childhood. I miss the days when I could jump off my roof pretending to fly and then fall and break my arm. And then my daddy would tell me one day I would kiss the clouds; and I would believe him.

Now it seems like only rational things are on my mind instead of clouds. Gone are the days of imagination; hello ADULTHOOD. Kids are growing up so fast: having babies, getting jobs, and caring for younger siblings.

What is my generation?

Are we now the adults making up for our parents’ mistakes?

So many lion-hearted teenagers have lost their youth so they can put food on the table and clothes on their backs.

It is in high school they shed their skin and mature, but too often they can only truly be themselves with their friends. Why has our youth become second to paying bills and raising kids?

My childhood is like a ghost haunting me and although I don’t have to go through the hardships that some of my classmates go through, I can’t help but wish we all had a time machine so we could all go back. Why can’t we all go back to the playground where we met our best-friends and our imaginations took us to the sky with Superman, under the sea with Sponge Bob, and the unknown excitement of our futures?
