Students earn awards at Global Issues Conference

The 2012 Student’s Global Issues Conference was held Thursday, May 3 at Rudder Auditorium on the campus of TAMU. Students were required to research a global topic and write a 100 word abstract, a 1000 word research paper complete with MLA Works Cited, and create a multimedia video as well.

The following students earned awards for their winning projects:

1st Place – Kelsie & Maisie Garcia – Living Green
1st Place – Morgan Escobar & Tanner Toomer – The Black Market

2nd Place – Brandon Menjares & Ryan Greenwood – Poverty

3rd Place – Libby Snodgrass & Chris Magby – The Battle of Survival in Developing Countries
3rd Place – Rachel Vivero & Brittany Thurstin – Let Green Light the Way

Honorable Mention – Travis Rosati & Hunter Douglas – Genocide & Ethnic Cleansing
Honorable Mention – Valeria Arriaga & Jennifer Cortez – Modern Day Piracy
Honorable Mention – Amanda Mushinski & Nicholas Trcalek – Black Market Smuggling

Special Recognition – Madison Hines & Melek Berkmen – Modern Day Slavery
