As a kid, all I used to sing was, “Spiderman, Spiderman, does whatever a Spiderman can.”I still sing it today. I’ve been a Spiderman fan since I was a kid, and my mom has tons of pictures of me dressed up in Spiderman costumes. Consequently I was very excited for the new movie, The Amazing Spiderman 2, the sequel to the 2012 film, The Amazing Spiderman.
Directed by Marc Webb, who directed the prequel to this movie, (and is also known for directing the indie-romantic comedy, (500) Days of Summer, perfects this movie with his twisted and thrilling scenes. Starring as Peter Parker/Spiderman, is Andrew Garfield, who is a British actor. Garfield plays a fantastic Peter Parker, as he makes witty jokes with or about the criminals and whips his enemies like cream. Starring as Peter Parker’s high school love, Gwen Stacy, is Emma Stone, who is famous for many movies, including Easy A, and Crazy, Stupid, Love. Even though I don’t like that she has to dye her hair to look like Gwen Stacy from the comic books, her beauty and personality suits Gwen’s character just fine. The two villains are Electro played by Jamie Foxx, and Green Goblin played by Dane DeHaan.
In the very first movie, The Amazing Spiderman, Peter Parker is just your regular kid who takes a field trip to OsCorp and gets bit by a radioactive Black Widow. He then begins to see that he is gaining spider capabilities such as climbing walls and shooting webs. He also meets his high school love, Gwen, who’s the daughter of a police officer in the city. Her father finds Richard Parker’s(Who is Peter Parker’s father) studies about lizards, spiders, and more creatures, and wants to turn himself to a superhuman lizard, and does so in an attempt to take over New York City. In the end, Spiderman defeats the lizard-like monster, and before the villain dies, he tells Spiderman, “Whatever you do, keep Gwen out of your adventures.”
If you’re looking for an action packed movie right off the bat, The Amazing Spiderman 2 is a movie for you. In the very first scene, Spiderman is trying to beat three criminals who are trying to steal chemicals from the OsCorp building. Another positive aspect of the movie is all the jokes Spiderman makes, an example is, being in the very first scene, when the three criminals are trying to get away. In this scene, Spiderman pulls up to the driver’s window and makes a few witty jokes, like “Why don’t we pull over, bad guy, before you get arrested?”, making the criminal very angry with Spiderman.
But there are many, many scenes that are legitimate tear jerkers, like when Peter is trying to find out what happened to his father, Richard, and when him and his Aunt May have memories of Peter’s deceased Uncle, Ben Parker. While I could go on forever about this movie, I rather you go to your local movie theatre and find out why The Amazing Spiderman 2, is amazing.
