School Board approves new grading guidelines

At a regular meeting on December 12, the School Board issued their new grading guidelines in response to the new state testing requirements with the EOC/STAAR exams. Among the new changes, the guidelines now dictate that teachers must enter at least two daily grades per week and have at least two major grades entered by the fifth week of the six weeks grading period. Other changes include the number of exemptions students may apply for in high school. Students will not be allowed to exempt any EOC-tested exam.

School Board approves new dress code

At a meeting on June 13, the School Board approved a new dress code policy that requires shorts and skirts to extend to the top of the knee, male students to be clean-shaven with tucked-in shirts and prohibits athletic shorts and pants outside of approved activity, among other changes.

Bryan High takes on a new name

In an unanimous school board decision, Bryan High School was renamed to Travis B. Bryan Jr High School on November 9th. The name change was instigated in order to honor Travis B. Bryan Jr, who founded the Bryan ISD Education foundation, and recently passed away last September.
