The varsity softball team started District 14-5A play with a win as they defeated the #5 ranked Conroe Oak Ridge Lady War Eagles 4-3.
After four scoreless innings the Lady Vikings broke through in the 5th. Junior Ally Bessette lead the inning off with a walk. Junior Morgan Isbell then followed with an infield single. With runners on 1st and 2nd, junior Rebecca Peirce hit a single up in the middle scoring Bessette. With one out, junior Erica Russell hit a 3 run home run to give the Lady Vikings a 4-0 lead.
Oak Ridge cut the lead in half in the bottom of 6th, scoring 2. In the 7th with runners at 1st and 3rd and no outs, senior Brittney Jones entered the game in relief to keep a 4-3 lead.
