Senioritis pushes student to pursue interest instead of coasting through final year

There seems to be a greater push to make students plan their future at a younger age. As fourth graders are expected to make decisions now that will affect them in high school. Sometimes though, students don’t know what they are interested in until they are older and have been exposed to different activities. Senior Clifton Johnson has experienced this shift in interest first-hand and tried something new his senior year.

Color guard earns 1st at competition

The color guard traveled to UNT in Denton during Spring Break where they competed in the Winter Guard International Southwestern Championships and scored the top score out of all the teams in the preliminary competition. The top 15 teams advanced to finals where Bryan High earned first place.

Color guard places first at competition

The color guard participated in the Texas Color Guard Circuit Katy High School Competition last weekend where they placed first out of 18 groups. They will compete again this weekend at the Winter Guard International Southwestern Championships at UNT and then at the Texas Color Guard Circuit State Championships at Reed Arena on April 2.

Aside from performing on the football field, the percussion and the color guard compete in two indoor competitions hosted by the Texas Color Guard Circuit: the Winter Guard International (WGI) and the Texas Color Guard Championships (TCGC) during the spring semester.

The JV and Varsity Color Guards competed at the Texas Color Guard Circuit’ Cypress Lakes High School Competition on Saturday. Both groups earned 1st place in their classifications. The Indoor Percussion group also competed and earned 1st place.

Color guard earns spot as finalist

The color guard competed in a preliminary competition at the Winter Guard International Austin Regional on Saturday at Lehman High School where they earned a spot in the finals competition held that evening. This is the fourth year in a row that the team has been an Austin Regional finalist.

Color Guard competes in first competition of the season

Congratulations to the color guard on a job well done Saturday, Jan. 28 at their first competition of the season. They attended the Texas Color Guard Circuit competition at Manor High School and placed 3rd out of about 10 teams from the Austin area in the Scholastic National A division.

Color Guard to hold pancake breakfast Saturday

The Color Guard is having their annual pancake breakfast fundraiser this Saturday, January 14 from 8:00-11:30 am in the silver campus cafeteria. Tickets are $7 (all you can eat pancakes) and are available now or at the door. To go plates are available!

The students will be doing live performances while you eat.

Guard brings color to performances

Every Friday night the Guard adds color to the football field with the marching band, but their year doesn’t end with football season. While the Color Guard is mainly known as an addition to the Friday night football experience, their expertise extends past the lines of school spirit, as they participate in Winter Guard also.

Color Guard to host winter show

Performing “Winter Wonderland,” the Color Guard will be performing at their winter show on December 17 at 7:00 at the Rudder HS Auditorium. Tickets are on-sale now for $3 and will cost $5 at the door.
