Drama. Mystery. Thriller. My top three favorite genres of all time when it comes to entertainment, and combined together into one show, it’s nearly perfect. Criminal Minds captures all three of these genres which makes the show my favorite show of all time. The show is the right mix of intrigue and suspense.

After a TV show’s finale premiers, the show tends to surge in popularity and then soon be forgotten. Occasionally though, a gem among the other crappy Netflix originals is found which puts viewers in an autumnal mood. Gilmore Girls is a show that can be easily lived and admired, and I think that’s one of the reasons I love it. It’s not too serious and most of the lines in the show are said in a sarcastic tone. References about old movies and songs are made and classics are brought up out of nowhere. It’s a comfortable show to watch. It’s the type of show that viewers can watch without thinking too much. I don’t have to seriously analyze what is going on, I can just sit back and chill.

I’ve been watching The Walking Dead since the Season 1 premiere in 2010, and ever since then, I have been a long-time super-fan of the AMC drama/horror series. While it is a great
show, there have definitely been some flaws in the writing over time, and some mistakes are bigger than others.

Most people think shows about zombies are all the same; they believe that all zombie TV shows and movies centralize around a pandemic and those that aren’t infected attempting to survive. The main focus is the protagonist’s skill and their ability to save themselves in seemingly impossible situations. Although this might be a run-of-the-mill case for many zombie movies, it isn’t for The Walking Dead.

Investigations, perpetrators, sirens, and drama: all essential components to the American cop show. On today’s television networks, shows like N.C.I.S. and C.S.I. dominate the police and crime genre, keeping up with the intense drama that surrounds the life of police officers, detectives, and other types of law enforcement. But what if the life of a cop wasn’t all intense interrogation scenes and old men brooding over cups of coffee and unbreakable cases? Fox’s Brooklyn Nine Nine broke the mold for the typical cop show when it was released in September 2013, trading in the same boring drama for comedy.

Every nerd’s dream-show finally returned to Netflix for a second season, filled with “Dungeons and Dragons” references, telepathy, and my personal favorite-government conspiracies. If you haven’t guessed what show I’m referring to, then get out from under that metaphorical rock and watch Stranger Things. Season two of Stranger Things just came out and after watching it, I have so many questions.

“We need an O.R quick! Nurse hand me a 10 blade please, patient’s in cardiac arrest! We’re losing them!” We’ve listened to these medical phrases through series after series on the television screen. One would think Americans would be sick and tired of rewatching the same storyline play over and over again, but a new medical drama The Good Doctor has added a new twist to the story.

The typical crime show follows a group of detectives seeking to solve unrealistic and improbable crimes. Forensic Files is unlike these impractical shows as it tells, in documentary-style, the true stories of violent murders, mysterious accidents, and outbreaks of fatal illnesses. Each episode features a different case, all revealing how forensic science is used to […]

What if the Hindenburg never blew up? What if William Travis’ famous Victory Or Death letter never got out of the Alamo? What if Neil Armstrong never walked on the moon? NBC’s new hit drama, Timeless, takes viewers to these time periods to see what would change had these key events in American history never occurred.

Linoleum floor tiles, walls of lockers, crowded hallways, clique after clique after clique… At the thought of these things, the typical high school tends to comes to mind. Of course not all high schools are the same, especially not when the students and staff spontaneously break into song at any given opportunity. One particular high school that fits this description is the one and only McKinley High School in Lima, Ohio, also known as the home of the show choir group or glee club New Directions. Though McKinley is the fictional home of a fictional show choir, the story of a group of outcasts finding common ground and friendship through show tunes is all the more real to me. In May 2009 when Fox’s Glee first aired, I was starstruck. Of course, at eight years old, I had no real concept of what high school was like, and thanks to Glee, all of my expectations became unrealistic.

From Jim putting office supplies in jello as a prank for Dwight, to Angela and her cats, The Office is one of my favorite shows on TV. With comedic characters like Michael Scott, Dwight Schrute, and Kelly Kapoor viewers, are sure to laugh at least once. The Office has many great comebacks and great relationships. They definitely stepped out of their comfort zone of American TV when making this show.

When I am not spending my time procrastinating writing my incredibly witty newspaper articles, I tend to dabble in the art of writing novels and, occasionally, reading them. One of the many things I have discovered in my writing adventure is that, no matter how exciting or original your plot is, if your characters fall flat, the story falls flat.

The blood, the screams, and the killings are all aspects of scary movies that churn our stomachs and shake us to our core. Scary movies have long been part of popular culture and they have drawn in people with their horror-based storylines. While not everyone enjoys this kind of entertainment, there are some people that think the more realistic, the better. Movies with vivid pictures of chopped up bodies or realistic storylines help create an atmosphere of fear. It allows people to experience the thrill of danger without actually being in it. But why do people want this? Shouldn’t things that make people cringe be pushed away, especially if these things are plausible in the real world?

Tired of watching Gossip Girl reruns and boring episodes of Pretty Little Liars? This winter the CW introduced The Carrie Diaries, a prequel to the successful Sex and the City tv series.
Sex and the City targets middle aged women who could live vicariously through Samantha, Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte, as the four girls took on Manhattan in the 21st century.
