Zendaya shakes it up with euphoric performance

Growing up I was always the biggest Zendaya fan. In every show or movie she had a main character role. I mean who wouldn’t love her; she is a triple threat: singing, dancing, and acting. She’s widely viewed as a positive, bubbly character.

I fell in love with Zendaya and her acting when I saw her in Euphoria, but so much of my childhood was built around her on Disney Channel.

Zendaya’s acting career began when she auditioned for the lead role in her school’s play, but she didn’t get the main role, and ended up playing the silkworm in “James and the Giant Peach.”

Zendaya’s professional career kicked off naturally when she starred as Rocky Blue in the Disney Channel series Shake It Up. Finally she exploded as a household name when she produced and acted in KC Undercover in 2015.

In 2013, Zendaya appeared on the sixteenth season of Dancing With The Stars, and dropped her first song “Replay”.

Calling Zendaya a triple threat is somewhat misleading, because she is so much more. Zendaya then confidently authored a book aimed at Disney Channel fans. The book, Between You and Me was significant because it was inspired by questions fans had for her and it allowed readers to get closer to the star.

She also became a Covergirl in 2016, which brought confidence to all women. She went to Covergirl with a plan: empower girls and women to embrace their uniqueness. She brought more diversity to Covergirl, which later opened up doors for more diverse models.

In 2017, Zendaya started appearing in Marvel movies, which propelled her into a whole new fanbase and challenged her in ways she had never been before. She also starred as a trapeze artist in the musical, “The Greatest Showman”, which showcased her abilities to dance and perform.

Zendaya’s Euphoria era began in 2019, and I loved the show because it was so raw and authentic.

The characters and the storyline were amazing, but I initially had several questions during the show including how Zendaya got the role of Rue and what she had to go through to truly fit the role.

Rue is one of the main characters whose story is about her battle with drug addiction, depression, and anxiety after her father’s passing. Without experiencing so many of the harsh realities depicted by the show. I wondered how Zendaya could relate to the character.

Originally the casting director had someone else picked for the role of Rue, who was actually a former drug addict who battled depression and anxiety. However they ended up cutting her, because they didn’t think she would be able to relive her life on the show.

There has also controversy about whether or not Zendaya should have even been cast as Rue, but I think she was the perfect fit because she is a vulnerable and strong actor. Her performance on the show is amazing and she captures Rue’s depth of character well.

Zendaya is one of the best performers of our generation, and I can’t wait for the next season of Euphoria.
