High school, day one: lost, shy, and scared. My first class on that day was Journalism – Newspaper with Rebecca Dominy in room 6160. A series of questions ran through my head as 8:25 a.m. came closer and closer by the minute: where is room 6160? I knew the class would be filled with upperclassmen – what if they think I’m weird?

The UIL academic team competed in the Belton Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 8. Senior Noel Tate placed 1st in Computer Applications, while sophomore Andy Ramirez placed 3rd. Senior John Fuller earned top honors by placing 1st in News Writing at the State UIL competition held at the University of Texas on Monday, May 21. Fuller also placed 2nd in Editorial Writing. His placings in those two events earned BHS the title of 2nd place journalism team.

Senior John Fuller advanced to the state meet by placing 1st in Editorial Writing and 3rd in News Writing at the regional UIL meet in Waco on Saturday. State will be held at the University of Texas in Austin on May 21.
