Harajuku, an area between Shinjuku and Shibuya in Japan, is a fashion district where people are frequently dressed in bright colors and layers of clothing. People also may be seen dressed in elegant lacy dresses with cute parasols, or Gothic fashion.

The 80s, an enthralling time of fashion and big hair that ultimately defined a generation while it continues to influence current and future generations. Pop culture, specifically music, heavily influenced the fashion culture of that time period with idols like Madonna, Bon Jovi, and Cyndi Lauper who made everything larger than life.

Growing up, my mom always told me that everything isn’t meant for everyone in the world of fashion as well. Sometimes people should think about how they look in a certain color or how their clothes fit before walking out of the house. Everyone has their own opinions of fashion and everyday people come up with a new style or a new way to wear things, but there are still certain principles that must be followed as people are still judged on how they put things together and how it looks as a whole. With that said, in the fashion world, all rules are made to be broken and who is anyone to judge a person’s self expression.

Fashion is one of the easiest and exciting ways to express yourselves, whether you’re a teenager in high school or a middle-aged teacher with kids. What you decide to put on in the morning is part of how you are defined as a person.

Now on to the bottom half of an outfit. Whether you like it or not, denim is a must have. Without explanation, jeans are probably the most practical clothing item found in one’s closet. However, jeans are frequently disliked because they’re perceived to be uncomfortable. Personally, I don’t think there’s a reason to blame jeans for this problem since there are so many different kinds. If your jeans are uncomfortable then you haven’t found the right pair yet, keep looking.

The way we dress not only defines who we are, but also the way people perceive us. People tend to look back on the style of their youth with a grimace, but, parts of it inevitably creep back into the mainstream as years go by. It’s hard to believe that the fashion of the '90s has made a comeback in today’s society.
